The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) will conduct a public informational meeting concerning the proposed installation of centerline rumble strips (Project No. 171-410) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5 at the Coventry Town Hall.

DOT plans to install approximately two hundred miles of centerline rumble strips – fifty on locally owned roads and one hundred and fifty on state roads. The project will include 4.26 miles in Coventry from Route 31 at the Vernon/Tolland town line to Route 44. Rumble strips alert drivers through noise and vibrations if they cross into the oncoming lane to minimize lane departure crashes.

The project is scheduled to begin in the summer 2016, and is expected to be funded entirely by the federal government.

Anyone who wishes to discuss the project may contact Barbara B. Ricozzi at 860-594-2770 or by e-mail at TrafficSafety.DOT@ct.gov. Additional information about the project is also available for review at the Coventry Town Hall.
