Area Legislators Announce Public Hearing on Concrete Foundation Issues

HARTFORD– Area legislators, State Representatives Bill Aman (R-14, Ranking Member Planning and Development), Christopher Davis (R-57), Tim Ackert (R-8), Sam Belsito (R-53), Gayle Mulligan (R-55), Mark Tweedie (R-13), and Kurt Vail (R-52) encourage residents to attend the Planning and Development Committee’s public hearing on bill proposal, H.B. 5180- An Act Concerning the Documentation of Concrete Foundation Applications. The public hearing will take place on February 19th at 11:30 a.m. in Room 2A of the Legislative Office Building (LOB).

The purpose of this public hearing is to get input directly from constituents about the on-going problems they are facing due to deteriorating foundations. After hearing from the public, the committee may work to expand the nature of the current bill to begin working towards potential available assistance options and to help prevent this situation from happening to future residents.

Per committee rules, to have your voice heard, you can testify in person by entering a lottery system between 10:00 and 10:45 a.m. in Room 2100 of the Legislative Office Building. Speakers arriving after the completion of the lottery will have their names placed at the end of the speaker list. You will also need to submit 31 copies of written testimony to Committee staff by 10:00 a.m. in Room 2100 of the LOB. Testimony received after the designated time may not be distributed until after the hearing.
