Currently, 125 residents live in the hospital located on the grounds of the Rocky Hill Veterans Home. Only 4 female veterans live there in domicile. Commissioner Connolly told Rep. Yaccarino about the number of successes the home has made over the last year and about plans to expand its domiciliary care unit in the future.

“During this year’s legislative session, we passed a number of bills to better address the needs of veterans and their families,” said Rep. Yaccarino. “I worked to pass legislation that would establish a program to reach out to women veterans in an effort to improve their awareness of available benefits and services. We need to better address and meet the needs of Connecticut’s women veterans.”

Yaccarino continued, “I am grateful for the opportunity to go on a full tour of the State Veterans Home in Rocky Hill with our new Commissioner. After spending several hours touring and talking with staff and residents, it is very clear to me that the home does so much to help Connecticut’s veterans. The success of this home is dependent upon the efforts of the Commissioner, the legislature and the federal government – we must all work together to see to it that our veterans have what they need.”
