    Winter Clothing and Coat Drive | Donations to Benefit Veterans and Individuals in Need

    State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) announced today that he is sponsoring a Clothing and Coat Drive to benefit veterans and individuals in need this upcoming winter season.  With colder temperatures on the way, Rep. Yaccarino, with assistance  from various local businesses and organizations, is asking local families to look in their bureaus and closets for donations of clean, new or gently used, coats and new hats, gloves, socks, thermal underwear, shirts and pants.

    The event begins November 1st and runs through November 29th with a drop off ceremony on Saturday, November 30th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 76 located at 20 Church Street in North Haven.

    Donations of all items collected will be presented to The Columbus House and Life Haven for distribution to veterans and individuals in need.

    Winter coats for both men and women. Preferred items include (sizes large and up):

    • Heavy duty winter-style parkas and/or ski-type coats
    • Weatherproof or water-resistant coats
    • Coats with hoods
    • Coats must be clean and in good condition with no stains and/or rips. Buttons and/or zippers need to be in good working condition
    • No leather, fleece, or wool short or long length coats will be accepted

    New winter items for both men and women include:

    • Thermal underwear (sizes medium and up, tops & bottoms)
    • Sweat shirts (sizes medium and up)
    • Sweat pants (sizes medium and up)
    • Hats
    • Gloves
    • Winter heavy socks
