Veterans Day 2019 and Veterans Day Donation Drive

Veterans Day 2019 and Veterans Day Donation Drive
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

On Monday, November 11, we will observe Veterans Day and pay tribute to the unbroken line of brave citizen soldiers going back to the Revolutionary War who stepped forward and served our great nation in times of peace and armed conflict. We honor the brave men and women who fought to preserve freedom for each successive generation.

This year marks the 101st anniversary of the signing of the armistice to end the First World War – the war to end all wars. Armistice Day – Veterans Day in the U.S. – is commemorated every year on November 11th to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany to end hostilities on the Western Front of World War I. The signing took effect at eleven o’clock in the morning – the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.

Armistice Day was officially named Veterans Day in 1954 to recognize and celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans.

This Veterans Day, let’s remember that the freedom that we enjoy was secured by the service of the men and women of our armed forces.

Please join me in taking some time to honor them and their families for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

“Governor Lamont’s reappointment of Marissa Gillett as PURA Chair is a mistake. Connecticut families are struggling with high electric costs, and they deserve leadership that delivers results and tells the truth. During her reconfirmation hearing, I asked Chair Gillett directly about the deleted text messages tied to an ongoing legal matter. I didn’t get a […]
