In celebration of Earth Day State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) is gathering a group of volunteers, putting on a pair of gloves and picking up a rake to beautify North Haven.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12th 2012, Rep. Yaccarino and volunteers from North Haven High School’s Project Green Group and the North Haven Gardening Club will be sprucing up the public garden area in front of Todd’s Pond located at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Bailey Road in North Haven.

“We were fortunate to have mild winter temperatures this year but that doesn’t mean our parks and public spaces aren’t in need of a good cleaning,” Rep. Yaccarino said. “North Haven is about community involvement and I can’t think of a better way to spend a few hours on a Saturday than by working together to beautify the town we all care so much about.”

Earlier in the day, residents are invited to visit the North Haven Gardening Club’s May Market prior to the cleanup event. The market will run from 9 a.m. to noon on the Town Green. If it rains, the market will be held inside the North Haven Congregational Church.

For more information, or if you would like to volunteer, please contact Michael Rell, Director of Outreach for the House Republican Caucus, at 1-860-240-8780.
