In advance of the special legislative session on jobs, Rep. Yaccarino met with several engineers from the research and development department of Covidien.
Covidien, with two locations in Connecticut, is a leading global healthcare products company that employs about 20,000 people in 28 facilities worldwide. They have nearly 3,000 employees in Connecticut and have facilities in both North Haven and New Haven.
During the meeting discussion turned to ways to make Connecticut more business friendly, including finding opportunities to recruit and retain highly qualified employees, keeping college graduates in the state, reducing property taxes and healthcare costs and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit within the state to encourage employers to locate here.
Rep. Yaccarino agreed, adding he feels Connecticut needs to develop a cohesive plan to help retain businesses currently operating here and to bring new companies into the state.
