Rep. Yaccarino recently interviewed two Korean War Veterans for an upcoming broadcast of his half-hour cable access television show on North Haven TV.
U.S. Marine Corps veteran Miguel “Mike” Nazario and U.S. Air Force veteran Howard Sisson spoke about how they chose to enlist in the service, their time in the military, specifically their service during the Korean War, and told stories and related witty observations as Rep. Yaccarino asked questions and listened intently.
The men also discussed the education they received both in the service and when they returned to the States. Mr. Sisson, who credited the military’s strong discipline with allowing him to earn his Bachelor’s degree in two-and-a-half years instead of the usual four, said he went to college on the GI Bill and later worked for Pratt and Whitney developing airfoils.
However, the conversations took a serious tone when Mr. Nazario mentioned those wounded and killed in combat. “A lot of people called it a Police Action,” he said. “For the mothers that lost their kids it wasn’t a Police Action.”
The show will air on NHTV at a later date.
