Temporarily trading his suit and tie for shorts and a game jersey State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) laced up his sneakers and took part in the Ridge Road School Parent vs. Teacher Basketball Game.

The game took place April 8th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Haven High School, with all proceeds being directed to the school with some scheduled toward construction of the playground area.

“I’m excited I was able to be a part of this wonderful event,” Rep. Yaccarino said. “I love basketball and playing for such a great cause made the game even better.”

The game was made up of four 10-minute quarters with entertainment and raffles in-between to keep the crowd energized. Local businesses donated dozens of prizes for the raffles ranging from gift cards for dinners and maid services to a guitar and music lessons. The North Haven Police and Fire Departments each donated a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get picked up in a police cruiser or fire engine and brought on a personal tour of the station or firehouse.

“The real winners of this game are the kids,” Rep. Yaccarino said.
