Rep. Yaccarino Brings Representative from CHOICES Program to Senior Center


Rep. Dave Yaccarino and about 30 North Haven seniors gathered at the senior center to listen to a representative of the state’s CHOICES program answer questions regarding Medicare, Medicaid and ConnPACE. Rep. Yaccarino organized the event to help North Haven’s seniors get answers to their health care questions.
CHOICES- Connecticut’s program for Health insurance assistance, Outreach, Information and referral, Counseling, Eligibility Screening provides information to persons age 60 and older and persons with disabilities. It is a cooperative program of the State of Connecticut’s Department of Social Services, the Area Agencies on Aging, and the Center for Medicare Advocacy and is comprised of both staff and volunteers.
“With all the changes regarding benefits for our seniors, it’s important to be able to make informed decisions regarding care,” Rep. Yaccarino said. “This forum will provide our seniors with the information needed to make those decisions and I’m happy I was able to bring a representative from the CHOICES program to North Haven.”
The CHOICES program is also known as the CT SHIP or State Health Insurance Assistance Program and is funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Administration on Aging through the Older Americans Act.
