Rep. Yaccarino recently went back to school to recognize his former teacher, and longtime educator, Cam Paradis for her years of service to the families and students of North Haven.
During a rally and ribbon cutting in the school’s gymnasium Paradis was honored for her 59 years of service when a new playground facility at the Clintonville Elementary School where she taught was officially opened and named Paradis Playground.

Paradis, who has taught thousands of North Haven’s second graders, was surrounded by family, friends, well-wishers and school children who came out to acknowledge her contribution to the school and town. During brief remarks, local legislators, friends and her son Michael paid tribute to her dedication and skill in molding young students into lifelong learners.
Funding for the new playground facility was a combined effort of the Clintonville School PTA and a STEAP grant from the State of Connecticut. Total cost for the project- which included removal of the old playground, repairs to the soil and redesigned drainage- was $203,000 of which $13,000 was raised by the PTA through fundraising events and private donations.
