Recently the Connecticut National Guard Foundation launched their 10th Annual Operation ELF to help support the families of soldiers who have been deployed overseas.

Operation ELF’s goal is to provide military families with toys, gift cards, cash, fuel oil and services such as snow removal for the holidays.

More than 700 Connecticut National Guard troops are currently serving in Afghanistan and other locations in Southwest Asia.

They have left behind more than 1,200 family members, including more than 400 school-age children.

Toys will be given to children affected by deployment during a holiday party scheduled for December 15 at the William A. O’Neill Armory.

Donations may be dropped off at National Guard Armories statewide through Monday, December 10, 2012 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

    Statewide Armories:
    • Army Aviation Support Facility, Bradley International Airport, Route 75, Windsor Locks, CT 06096
    • William A. O’Neill Armory, 360 Broad Street, Hartford, CT 06105
    • Waterbury Armory, 64 Field Street, Waterbury, CT 06702
    • New London Armory, 249 Bayonet Street, New London, CT 06320
    • Stratford Armory, 63 Armory Road, Stratford, CT 06497
    • Norwich Armory, 38 Stott Avenue, Norwich, CT 06360

Gift card donations for grocery and department stores may be mailed to: Connecticut National Guard, Office of Family Programs, 360 Broad Street, Hartford, CT 06105.

When mailing a donation, please be sure to include your name, address and phone number so you may receive an appropriate acknowledgement for your contribution.

Financial contributions for fuel oil and snow removal services can be made to the Connecticut National Guard Family Program and sent to: Connecticut National Guard Foundation, Inc., 360 Broad Street, Hartford, CT 06105. Website: www.ctngfoundation.org.

Within ELF there is an Adopt-A-Family program that assists families suffering extreme financial hardship throughout the holidays. A family can be “adopted” confidentially by an individual or business, with gifts delivered by the family’s case worker along with the name of the donor, if desired.

The Connecticut National Guard Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization that was established in April of 2003 for the purpose of providing emergency financial assistance for Connecticut National Guard members and their families. All donations are fully tax-deductible.

For more information, please contact Operation ELF at: (800) 858-2677.

“Governor Lamont’s reappointment of Marissa Gillett as PURA Chair is a mistake. Connecticut families are struggling with high electric costs, and they deserve leadership that delivers results and tells the truth. During her reconfirmation hearing, I asked Chair Gillett directly about the deleted text messages tied to an ongoing legal matter. I didn’t get a […]
