North Haven Legislators Ring the Bell for The Salvation Army

North Haven Legislators Ring the Bell for The Salvation Army

State Representative Dave Yaccarino and State Senator Paul Cicarella joined The Salvation Army’s annual “Red Kettle Campaign” on December 14th outside of Stop & Shop in North Haven.

Over the course of an hour, the North Haven legislators joined Corey Smith, a representative from The Salvation Army in the time-honored tradition of ‘Ringing the Bell’, greeting holiday shoppers with Christmas cheer, and handing out candy canes.

“The holiday season is considered a time of gift-giving,” said Rep. Yaccarino. “I was happy to volunteer some of my time ringing the bell so that we could directly help people in our community. I have volunteered with The Salvation Army for many years, and will continue this tradition in the future. The money collected gives back to those in need of assistance, and that is always my goal – especially during the holidays.”

“This time of year, it’s important to appreciate the things that you have, give back where you can, and support members of our community in need,” added Sen. Cicarella.

All proceeds will be donated directly to The Salvation Army to provide basic social services to those in need of food, shelter, clothing, and financial assistance. The organization also responds to natural disasters such as wildfires and tornadoes, provides meals and toys to families in need, and conducts research and analyses regarding human needs around the country. They provide adult rehabilitation, veteran services, elderly services, missing person searches, housing assistance, youth recreation, sponsorship, and support in the fight to end human trafficking. The organization has also been instrumental in the fight against COVID-19, working with local, state, and federal officials, as well as other organizations to help our most vulnerable populations.

Those unable to donate in-person may contribute by texting CTREP to 71777.

Anyone who would like to speak with their legislator may do so by contacting Rep. Yaccarino at 860-240-8700 or Dave.Yaccarino@housegop.ct.gov and Sen. Cicarella at 860-240-8800 or Paul.Cicarella@cga.ct.gov.

Connecticut families are struggling with high electric costs, and they deserve leadership that delivers results and tells the truth. During her reconfirmation hearing, I asked Chair Gillett directly about the deleted text messages tied to an ongoing legal matter. I didn’t get a […]
