To keep residents updated regarding the 2021 Legislative Session that ended on June 9, 2021, State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) and Senate Senator Paul Ciccarella (R-34), hosted the 10th Annual ‘Cookout and Conversation’ legislative update held at The American Legion Post 76 on Church Street in North Haven on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

The lawmakers provided an update regarding the 2021 Legislative Session and discussed issues pertaining to the governor’s request to extend emergency powers, taxes, state spending, zoning, legalization of marijuana, the bipartisan budget that passed, and the juvenile crime crisis with nearly 25 residents. Due to the weather, pizza was served instead of the legislators grilling hot dogs. Individuals in attendance were asked to bring non-perishable food donations to benefit the North Haven Food Bank; a total of nearly 200 items were collected for donation.

“Last year we were unable to host any post-session events in our community as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made this gathering at our 10th annual Cookout and Conversation that much more special,” said Rep. Yaccarino. “I would also like to thank everyone who came out to meet us, who asked questions, and who donated food to benefit the food bank in town – especially the Bangladesh Society of CT who dropped off five cases of canned soup and fruit.”

“Thanks to all who came out in the pouring rain to meet with us, share their thoughts and, most importantly, generously bring donations for the North Haven Food Bank. One of my favorite parts of this job is being in the district and talking with people. I look forward to more events like this in the coming months,” added Sen. Ciccarella.

Anyone unable to attend the event may contact Representative Yaccarino at 860-240-8700 or Dave.Yaccarino@housegop.ct.gov and Senator Ciccarella at 860-240-8800 or Paul.Ciccarella@cga.ct.gov with questions pertaining to any state or local issue.

Connecticut families are struggling with high electric costs, and they deserve leadership that delivers results and tells the truth.
