As we approach Thanksgiving, it is important to remember the meaning of this American custom. Traditionally recognized as starting in 1621, the Pilgrims began this holiday to celebrate the harvest and to give thanks for all things that they may not have thought of over the course of the year.
During this time of giving, while we gather with loved ones enjoying turkey, stuffing and football, I ask you to remember that Thanksgiving is meant to be a day to give thanks. Be thankful for your family and friends. Be thankful for your health and be thankful for all the freedoms that we, as Americans, often take for granted. Finally, please also be thankful for the men and women in our armed forces that risk their lives to protect these freedoms every day.
This year remember the meaning of the holiday by thinking about all you have to be thankful for and be kind to one another. Have a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Dave Yaccarino
