Read Across America: West Stafford School

Key Takeaways

  • Rep. Vail visits kindergartners at West Stafford School for Read Across America
  • Reading 'Happy Dreamer' promotes creativity, resilience, and dreaming big
  • Early literacy builds confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning
  • Community engagement strengthens student enthusiasm for reading

📚 As part of Read Across America, I had the pleasure of visiting the kindergartners at West Stafford School this week. During my visit, I read Happy Dreamer by Peter H. Reynolds—a wonderful story that encourages creativity, resilience, and the joy of dreaming big.

Spending time with our youngest students is always a highlight of Read Across America. The kindergartners were enthusiastic listeners and eager to jump into the story, making the experience even more special.

Early literacy plays a critical role in the beginning of a student’s academic journey. Developing strong reading skills at a young age helps build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning—tools that will support students well beyond the classroom.

Thank you to the students and staff at West Stafford School for the warm welcome and for making reading such an exciting part of the school day!
