Representative Polletta Sworn Into Legislature

HARTFORD – The Connecticut General Assembly today welcomed its newest member when State Representative Joe Polletta (R-68) took the oath to represent the people of the 68th District of Watertown, Oakville and Woodbury.Polletta was elected to fill the seat vacated by now State Senator Eric Berthel during a special election on April 25.
“I’m excited the people of Watertown, Oakville and Woodbury put their trust in me to represent them in Hartford and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to move Connecticut forward,” Rep. Polletta said.
Rep. Polletta will serve on three legislative committees, including the Banking Committee, which handles matters relating to the Department of Banking, banks, bank and trust companies, savings and loan associations and credit unions. Rep. Polletta will also serve on the Housing Committee, which covers all matters relating to housing and housing programs, and the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, which deals with both insurance law and real estate law.
“I know it won’t be easy coming into office in the last month of an already challenging session, and with a looming budget deficit of more than $3.7 billion for the next biennium, but I’m optimistic that we can make the structural changes needed to get our state back on a sustainable fiscal path. There’s a lot of work to be done,” Rep. Polletta said.
