Rep. Pavalock Rolls Up Her Sleeves to Fight Hunger, Raise Awareness

BRISTOL– For the second year running, Bristol state Representative Cara C. Pavalock (R-77) joined Bristol ShopRite in the fight against hunger. The legislator, along with area volunteers, rolled up their sleeves and participated in the ‘Help Bag Hunger’ event to raise awareness and funds for food banks in the community.

“I am honored to have been a returning participant in this great event which seeks to raise awareness in our communities about the ongoing battle against hunger,” said Rep. Pavalock. “Bristol ShopRite continues to be a strong supporter and community partner in helping to bring greater visibility to the cause and help those in need. We must continue to do more to help the neediest among us, they are our neighbors, our friends, and our family members, and I encourage the residents of Bristol to join me in fighting hunger.”
Throughout the month of September, shoppers had the opportunity to continue to support this initiative at checkout by adding to their bill in $1 increments. Contributions will support local food banks through Foodshare, wherein each dollar donated buys one pound of food.
The “Help Bag Hunger” event, held during September’s National Hunger Action Month, is part of ShopRite’s year-round Partners in Caring Program. Since it was launched in 1999, Partners in Caring has provided more than $40 million to local food banks that support more than 1,700 charities in providing food assistance throughout the Northeast, according to Torna ShopRite Community Liaison, Mary Lou Grendziszewski.
