Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato Highlights Legislative Priorities

HARTFORD – Less than a month into the 2022 session, State Representative Cara Pavalock-D’Amato (R-77) has outlined her legislative priorities for this year and atop the list is reigning in the ever-increasing delivery costs utility companies can impose on their customers.

“Connecticut’s energy costs are some of the highest in the entire country,” Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato said. “Something needs to be done to protect the customer from the rate increases and exorbitant delivery costs that are being pushed off onto them on an almost yearly basis.”

Additionally, Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato has also submitted a bill to require any costs imposed upon municipalities through election-related mandates be funded by the state, exempt COVID-19 rapid test kits from sales and use taxes, and establish a credit against the personal income tax for education costs incurred in excess of two hundred dollars for tuition, book fees, computers, uniforms, lab fees and tutoring services, on behalf of dependent students enrolled in a private school.

In the second year of a two-year legislative cycle, the main goal of the legislature is to make any necessary adjustments to the budget adopted in the previous year. Any new bills or modifications to previously passed laws must be budgetary related.
