Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato Celebrates Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Reading to Elementary Students
BRISTOL – In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the 22nd annual National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America Day, State Representative Cara Pavalock-D’Amato (R-77) joined in the nationwide celebration by reading to students from Edgewood School, Hubbell Elementary, and Mountain View Elementary Schools.
As part of the annual event, Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato read Dr. Seuss’ book “Wacky Wednesday” and “She Persisted” by Chelsea Clinton to the second grade and third grade students.
“It is a privilege to be part of Read Across America Day and to be able to read to the students of our local schools.” Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato said. “I appreciate the enthusiasm of the schools’ administration, their teachers and the students. It’s an event I look forward to every year.”
The aim of the ‘Read Across America’ program is to raise literary awareness by motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
According to their website, The National Education Association seeks to build a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. The event involves more than 3.2 million teachers, librarians, athletes, celebrities, politicians, business professionals and everyday people reading to students all across the country.
The annually event was established by NEA in 1998 and takes place on March 2nd and has become the largest reading event in the country.
