Poll Question Results- Do you Support Tolls Yes/No

Thanks to those of you who took the time to complete my poll question.

I wanted to take a moment to dispel many of the myths about only tolling at the borders (unconstitutional) or only having trucks (has been ruled out because it doesn’t generate enough revenue) or out-of-state commuters pay them (DOT study has 60% coming from CT residents).

The attached video by my colleagues Rep. Davis and Rep. Perillo highlight reasons why we can’t only toll at the boarders, charge only trucks, etc.

Here are the overall results (266 responses):
No – 86.47%
Yes – 9.77%
Undecided – 3.76%

Of those who responded, the overwhelming majority say we need to ‘cut expenses and wasteful spending’.

Other responses in support of tolls included:
I’d rather have tolls than a tax increase, and its ok as long as the money goes to fixing our roads and bridges, and I don’t want people traveling on our roads for free.

Anti-toll responses included:
100% against tolls, Connecticut’s residents shouldn’t have to pay, and tolls will hurt Connecticut’s residents the most
