HARTFORD – Representative Cara Pavalock (R-Bristol) joined fellow legislators in welcoming young inventors to Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) Day at the State Capitol.

During the event, Pavalock spoke with several students from Ivy Drive School in Bristol about their innovative creations.

“It was so inspiring to meet these young inventors and talk with them about their creations during CIC Day,” said Rep. Pavalock.  “I’m amazed at the incredible talent that I saw on display and I’m very proud of these students and all that they’ve accomplished.  Programs such as the Connecticut Invention Convention encourage our youth to explore, and to problem solve through ingenuity.  The importance of science, technology, engineering, and math cannot be understated as we prepare our youth to become future inventors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.”

Making its return to the State Capitol for the 10th year in a row, the CIC event was a great success, with 198 student inventors from 17 schools across the state bringing their inventions for display at the Capitol.

Inventors will go on to showcase their creations and compete at the 32nd Annual Connecticut Invention Convention on Saturday, May 2, 2014 at Gampel Pavilion on the University of Connecticut, Storrs Campus.  The Convention is hosted by UCONN’s School of Engineering.
