Pavalock Hosts Immanuel Lutheran Students at U.S. Citizenship Ceremony

HARTFORD – State Rep. Cara Christine Pavalock (R-77) recently hosted students from Immanuel Lutheran School in Bristol at the United States District of Connecticut Courthouse at the Abraham Ribicoff Federal Building in Hartford as her guests to witness a United States Citizenship Ceremony.
The twenty students, along with chaperones from the school were on hand to observe the official ceremony as fifty-five immigrants became naturalized citizens of the United States of America. United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson met with the group prior to the ceremony and spoke with Rep. Pavalock and the students. Judge Thompson later presided over the ceremony. Rep. Pavalock also participated in the ceremony with the reading of an inspirational passage from “I Am an American” by R. L. Duffus and then handed out American flags to welcome the new citizens as they came forward to receive their Certificates of Naturalization.
Rep. Pavalock said, “I hope the students enjoyed this very special experience in witnessing people taking the Oath of Allegiance and becoming citizens of the United States. They were able to observe what makes our country great; freedom. For many, the path to citizenship is a path to self-determination and independence, to have the opportunity to achieve their hopes and dreams as they live in a free land. It is my hope that the students were inspired by the many people who entered the room as immigrants and left as fellow Americans.”
Representative Pavalock represents the 77th District and the city of Bristol in the General Assembly.
