‘Operation Slowdown’ Now in Effect

In an effort to promote safety and curb speeding in residential neighborhoods and discourage unsafe driving habits, the Bristol Police Department has launched ‘Operation Slowdown.’
The traffic operation, which will continue periodically for the next few months, will utilize speed enforcement traps placed on select secondary roads within the city to raise awareness by motorists and enforce speed limits to ensure the safety and well-being of our neighborhood children and families.
It is always important to obey our traffic laws. Particularly with the start of the new school year upon us, many children will be walking to and from their bus stops or walking to and from school. I urge motorists to slow down and be extra cautious at this time and take notice of posted speed limits as children and families settle into school routines.
Any resident concerned about speeding in their neighborhood is asked to call the Bristol Police Department Traffic Division at 860-584-3030.
Please feel free to contact my office about this or any concern at 800-842-1423 or email cara.pavalock@housegop.ct.gov.
