CT DMV: Renewal Extension Expires This Week

The state’s Department of Motor Vehicles released the following information regarding renewals and the department’s computer upgrade.
DMV Closes at 12:30 p.m.,
is Closed Saturday
and Re-Opens Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:45 a.m.
WETHERSFIELD– The Department of Motor Vehicles is reminding residents that they have until the close of business Tuesday, October 13, to complete any renewals of licenses, registrations or identification cards covered by extensions given in August for the department’s computer upgrade.
The extension period ends Oct. 13, following the Columbus Day holiday. DMV closes at 12:30 p.m. Friday for the holiday, is not open Saturday and reopens Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:45 a.m. If an expired renewal is not completed by next Tuesday, then all the regular penalties will be imposed beginning Oct. 14.
If the agency is closed on the day of expiration for a license or registration, under state law registrations and licenses remain valid through the next business day that the agency is open, which is Oct. 13, so the renewal can be transacted. The DMV has informed law enforcement officials about the end date for extensions.
Those needing to renew a license are urged to visit a AAA office, which are located throughout the state (ct.gov/dmv/offices). Registration renewal can also be completed online (ct.gov/dmv/online) using a computer, tablet or smartphone.
