Bristol Republican Legislators Enlist Public’s Help in Reversing Cuts to Bristol Hospital

Bristol Republican legislators on Tuesday (Sep. 22) continued to urge area residents to speak out about Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s deep budget cuts to hospitals across the state, including a devastating $5.88 million in cuts for Bristol Hospital.

Sen. Henri Martin, Rep. Whit Betts, and Rep. Cara Pavalock joined with Republicans in the House and Senate to call for a special legislative session to be held.

The special session, they said, would allow Democrats and Republicans to reject the governor’s proposed cuts and make broad changes to the state budget.

“This is about Bristol Hospital’s future, this is about the future of health care access in Connecticut, and we need everyone to make their voices heard,” Sen. Martin said. “An aggressive letter writing campaign has begun, and it aims to get the governor to rethink these budget cuts. Visit www.bristolhospital.org for more information about the campaign and please spread the word.”

“These cuts that Gov. Malloy is making will put at risk the well-being of families in greater Bristol by jeopardizing their ability to get the health care services they need,” Rep. Betts said.  “We should be protecting the most vulnerable residents in our communities.  Let’s instead sit down and work together in a bipartisan way to rethink and reverse the governor’s poor decision.”

“This is an opportunity for Republicans and Democrats to right a wrong,” Rep. Cara Pavalock said.  “We should get back into special session as soon as possible to restore these funds for Bristol Hospital.  We really need the public’s help, so please speak out by visiting www.bristolhospital.org today.”

The public may also contact Gov. Malloy’s office during business hours at 860 566-4840.

    Rep. Pavalock-D’Amato Recognizes Local Hero

Yesterday, I had the honor of joining some of my state and federal colleagues to acknowledge the service of a true local hero. As a highly decorated member of the United State Army Reserve, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Patrick Nelligan has dedicated his life to this country, so as he enters retirement it was only […]
