Bristol Legislators Talk with Residents During Coffee Hour

BRISTOL — State Reps. Whit Betts (R-78) and Cara Pavalock (R-77) hosted their monthly coffee hour event this morning at Rodd’s Restaurant in Bristol. Due to legislative business, Sen. Henri Martin (R-31) was unable to attend this month’s event.
Early morning patrons greeted Betts and Pavalock, many of whom had more than one topic of concern for discussion with their legislator. Most of the constituents took issue with the budget and the $350 million shortfall facing the state.
Another resident discussed their concerns regarding their propane home heating bill and the tax levied because of hookup to a backup generator. Other topics for discussion included repealing common core, assistance for children with medically complex needs, second amendment rights, and concern regarding funding cuts to community hospitals, including Bristol Hospital.
