“Year after year, I am honored to participate in this great event and celebrate with the Bristol Police Explorers,” said Rep. Betts. ‘I’m thrilled to see so many youth take an interest in public safety and I’m very impressed with the incredible amount of hard work and time that these Explorers put into this program. It is evident by the amount of awards and accolades given tonight that they are a very dedicated group and I offer each of them my most sincere congratulations on a job well done.”

“It was an honor to attend the Family Night and Awards Dinner,” said Rep. Pavalock. “The accomplishments of the Police Explorers in this room are remarkable. I congratulate the citation recipients and all of this evening’s award recipients and their families. There is much to be proud of and to celebrate.”

“Tonight, we celebrate the Bristol Explorers, and those who have been their mentors,” Sen. Martin said. “Those mentors include family members, law enforcement and this wonderful community of Bristol. The program is about skill-building, personal growth, and learning what motivates you to be a better person. Especially at this time of year, we have much to be proud of and to celebrate. Tonight, we want to tell you how proud of each of you we are.”

The legislators presented official citations on behalf of the Connecticut General Assembly to Explorer Matthew Foggaini and Explorer Francis Flood in recognition of being named Explorer of the Year. Jessica Warner was given a citation in recognition of being named Advisor of the Year.

The Bristol Police Explorers are an organization comprised of youths, ages 14-21 that are interested in the criminal justice field. The program provides its members with an education of police work, basic medical training, team building exercises, and a sense of self-respect and discipline.

Police Explorers learn the duties of Law Enforcement Officers from career fields as varied as Police Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Environmental Protection, Forensics, Emergency Dispatching, Military Police, as well as other aspects of law enforcement according to the website.
