Betts, Pavalock Listen, Discuss Priorities at Bristol Community Organization’s Legislative Breakfast

BRISTOL – State Representatives Cara Pavalock and Whit Betts attended a legislative breakfast hosted by Bristol Community Organization. The legislators met with Tom Morrow, Executive Director of BCO, as well as Members of the Board of Directors and staff. Also in attendance were members from the Human Resource Agency of New Britain (HRA-NB).

During the meeting Betts and Pavalock gave remarks on the state budget, including the current $266 million deficit facing the state before the fiscal year-end on June 30. Betts and Pavalock expressed concern not only about the cuts that will be made to close this fiscal deficit, but also about the looming $900 million deficit the state faces beginning July 1 for the next fiscal year. Both lawmakers agreed that predictability and sustainability is what they will be fighting for as the 2016 legislative session continues.
