Hartford – State Representatives Whit Betts (R-77) and Cara Pavalock (R-78) and State Senator Henri Martin (R-31) welcomed doctors, administrators, and staff from Bristol Hospital to the Legislative Office Building on Wednesday, March 16th. The legislators met with the group as part of the 2016 Connecticut Hospital Day at the State Capitol. The event was sponsored by the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA).

During the meeting, the legislators had the opportunity to hear directly from hospital staff about their concerns regarding the state budget and the $266 million deficit facing the state for this fiscal year.  As a result, the Malloy administration recently suspended $140 million in state and federal payments due to hospitals.  Yesterday, the legislators joined their Republican caucuses in supporting a deficit mitigation plan that restores those cuts and makes the payments owed to Connecticut hospitals.
