    The public can now weigh in on a proposal by Bristol Republican lawmakers to eliminate the personal income tax on social security benefits.

    The proposal by Sen. Henri Martin, Rep. Whit Betts and Rep. Cara Pavalock will receive a public hearing on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Legislative Office Building.

    The legislators are urging seniors and concerned taxpayers to voice their support for this tax relief and to spread the word to others about this opportunity to lower state tax burdens.

    • Testimony should include your name and town.
    • Testimony may be emailed to: FINtestimony@cga.ct.gov .
    • In the email’s subject line, put House Bill 5062 .

    The legislators said taxpayers should feel free to copy them on the testimony at Henri.Martin@cga.ct.gov; whit.betts@housegop@cga.ct.gov; and cara.pavalock@housegop@cga.ct.gov .

    Those who wish to testify in person may attend the hearing on Friday, Feb. 26 at 10:30 A.M. in Room 2E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. For detailed information on testifying in person, or submitting written testimony, visit www.cga.ct.gov and review ‘Citizen’s Guide/Guide to Testifying’.
