State Rep. Ben McGorty Celebrates Swearing-In Of Amy Romano

HARTFORD–State Representative Ben McGorty (R-122) proudly attended the swearing-in ceremony of Amy Romano today, April 25, 2025, as she officially took her place as the new representative for the 113th House District in Shelton. Romano’s victory in the special election on April 22, 2025, solidifies continued Republican leadership for a district that has been a GOP stronghold for over half a century.
“It was an honor to witness Amy Romano take the oath of office today,” said Rep. McGorty. “Her experience as Chair of the Shelton Board of Education and her unwavering commitment to our community make her a formidable addition to our legislative team. I’m eager to join forces with her to champion the priorities of Shelton residents, including affordability, public safety, and quality education.”
Romano clinched 1,638 votes, defeating her opponent by 159 votes, according to unofficial results. Her election fills the vacancy left by former Rep. Jason Perillo, who resigned in February after securing a state Senate seat. The 113th District, covering Shelton’s downtown and approximately 25,000 residents, remains a vital voice in the Connecticut General Assembly.
Rep. McGorty added, “Amy’s dedication to Shelton and her proven leadership will strengthen our region. Together, we’ll keep pushing for policies that ensure our communities stay robust, secure, and prosperous.”
