During today’s Planning and Development public hearing, Shelton Planning and Zoning Chair Virginia Harger explained why the new statewide property tax proposal will hurt our communities in the 122nd District.
More property taxes are not the proper way to promote affordable housing. This is part of a disturbing trend of proposals introduced by Democratic lawmakers to take political control and tax revenue away from towns like Shelton to benefit the state government in Hartford. Simply put, this is a money and power grab.
