Rep. McGorty addresses the audience at the groundbreaking ceremony for renovations at the Sterling House in Stratford on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Rep. Joe Gresko (D-121) Stratford Mayor John Harkins, and Rep. Laura Hoydick (R-121) are behind him.

Rep. Ben McGorty (R-122) joined Stratford Mayor John Harkins, Rep. Laura Hoydick (R-120), Rep. Joe Gresko (D-121), and other local and state officials today for the groundbreaking ceremony at Sterling House in Stratford for an expansion of the well-known community center.

The expansion project includes a new elevator, inside stairwell egress, elimination of an outside fire escape, and renovation of the main office and reception area.  The project was previously approved for $1.2 million in state bond funds.

The renovations were needed as physically challenged populations were unable to access the Food Pantry or Resource Connection Program.

Sterling House Executive Director Amanda Meeson joins Rep. McGorty, Rep. Gresko, Mayor Harkins and Rep. Hoydick for the groundbreaking ceremony at Sterling House.
