Rep. Ben McGorty (R-122) joined Stratford Mayor John Harkins, Rep. Laura Hoydick (R-120), Rep. Joe Gresko (D-121), and other local and state officials today for the groundbreaking ceremony at Sterling House in Stratford for an expansion of the well-known community center.
The expansion project includes a new elevator, inside stairwell egress, elimination of an outside fire escape, and renovation of the main office and reception area. The project was previously approved for $1.2 million in state bond funds.
The renovations were needed as physically challenged populations were unable to access the Food Pantry or Resource Connection Program.
