Rep. Ben McGorty joined Reps. Laura Devlin and Dave Rutigliano in hosting their Third Annual Women’s History Month essay contest in Trumbull for sixth-grade students. Students wrote essays on the subject “How a Connecticut Woman Made a Contribution to the State and/or Nation and How it Affects Me.”
On Saturday, March 11th, winning students read their essays, and were recognized by the legislators and school officials.
The winners and runners-up were:
St. Theresa School: Enzo Maia (Emeline Roberts Jones -winner), Paul James (Rebecca Lobo- runner-up)
Hillcrest Middle School: Lizzie Steeves (Ella Grasso – winner), Ava Meagher (Madeline L’Engle – runner-up)
Madison Middle School: Magdalena Seres (Catharine Beecher – winner), Reshma Kode (Mary Hall-runner-up)
