Shelton State lawmakers hosted a workshop for constituents, Wednesday, October 12 to discuss how to lower electric bills. Representative Ben McGorty (R-122), Representative Jason Perillo (R-113) and Senator Kevin Kelly (R-21) met with community members at the Shelton Senior Center.

Rep. McGorty (left), PURA representative Saranda Belica (center) and Sen. Kelly (right) meet with constituents in Shelton to discuss ways to lower their electric bills.

“I think this was a great opportunity for members of the community to discuss ways in which they can lower their electric rates, we had a great turnout,” said Representative McGorty.

“As colder temperatures approach and energy rates remain high I think it is important for our constituents to learn ways in which to lower their electric bills, the continued high energy rates impact families of all sizes,” said Representatives Jason Perillo.

“While we have taken steps to combat the high electricity rates here in our great state, the reality is that many families feel the sting of high electricity bills, especially as we near the holiday season and colder weather,” said Senator Kevin Kelly. “I am thrilled that we were able to team up with PURA to bring this forum to the Shelton community.”

Sen. Kelly and Rep. McGorty address a group of Shelton residents gathered to learn more about their electric bills at a forum with PURA at Shelton Senior Center.

Connecticut continues to have one of the highest state electricity profiles across the entire country; ranking third to last –behind only Hawaii and Alaska.
