SHELTON – As part of the Shelton Clean Sweep Project the week of Earth Day, State Representatives Ben McGorty (R-122) and Jason Perillo (R-113) “adopted” Center Street in downtown Shelton, and spent the morning of Saturday, April 25th, picking up trash along the roadway.
The effort was part of a larger coordinated deployment of volunteers from all over Shelton that cleaned up various roadways and open spaces.

“It doesn’t take a lot to make your neighborhood and your street look a lot better,” said Rep. McGorty. “My thanks go to the coordinators of the Shelton Clean Sweep Project for organizing this great event.”
“This is a great way to give back a little to the community, and I commend the Shelton residents who gave up a little time this week to go out and help make Shelton a little nicer,” said Rep. Perillo. “Spring is a great time to do this. After the thaw from winter and the snow has all melted it’s amazing to see what was hiding under there.”
Both legislators went up and down Center Street with bags and gloves, picking up loose litter, bottles and other rubbish.
