McGorty Joins Officials in Trumbull to Honor Mary J. Sherlach

TRUMBULL—Mary J. Sherlach passed away December 14, 2012, protecting students at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
On February 4, 2013, the Trumbull Town Council voted to rename the Trumbull Counseling Center, located in Old Mine Park, to the Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center, in honor of Sherlach, for her tremendous sacrifice.
William Sherlach, husband of Mary, joined Connecticut legislators including, Rep. Ben McGorty, Rep. Dave Rutigliano, Rep. Laura Devlin, Rep. Mitch Bolinsky, and Sen. Marilyn Moore, and Trumbull officials, including First Selectman, Tim Herbst, May 15, for the Counseling Center’s formal re-dedication.

Sherlach expressed his gratitude to the Trumbull delegation of legislators for their efforts in securing funding for the renovation project.
Counseling services offered at the center address, family interventions for childhood attention deficit and behavior issues, parent-child conflicts, adolescent concerns, juvenile court referrals, domestic violence, divorce issues, and individual or family psychotherapy.
In 2014, the Town of Trumbull received a grant to rehabilitate and renovate the center last making it ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant.
