State Representatives Ben McGorty (R-Shelton), Laura Hoydick (R-Stratford) and Joe Gresko (D-Stratford) announced that a $2,116 state grant has been awarded to the Mighty Quinn Foundation of Stratford in support of the arts.

“We all share in the responsibility of making Stratford a better place, and investments like this will benefit the entire community.” McGorty said. “I’m happy this money will go to such a worthy organization and help them continue to support education and the arts locally.”

“Quinn Rooney’s positive spirit, love of life and art are continued through the Mighty Quinn Foundation created and supported by his family,” Hoydick said. “Stratford and the surrounding communities’ youth are fortunate to perform and learn theater arts thanks to the programming of Mighty Quinn, and the grant will go a long way to enhance these opportunities and experiences.”

“Organizations like Mighty Quinn provide important artistic and educational opportunities for our young women and men to develop and succeed,” Gresko said. “By helping them to achieve success we enhance our own communities and ensure the future. I want to thank all those involved who made this grant possible.”

The Mighty Quinn Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity,  is dedicated to the enhancement of artistic and educational opportunities  for  young men and women. The Mighty Quinn Foundation honors Quinn’s passion for learning and love of theater by providing scholarships, training, artistic programming and creative opportunities within its community. The goal is to provide opportunities for artists to learn, grow and perform.

The state Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of the Arts approved the grant through its Supporting Arts in Place program, which awards matching grants to eligible arts organizations and municipal arts offices to strengthen the state’s nonprofit arts industry.
