State Representative Ben McGorty (R-122) joined area legislators and dignitaries at a ceremony at Sikorsky Aircraft honoring the 1,000th delivery of the H-60M Black Hawk helicopter on October 13th, 2016.
The helicopter has been in production since 2007 for military use by the United States government and allied forces. The two models produced during this time are the UH-60M and HH-60M MEDEVAC, which have been heavily sought after by the armed services for their unique capabilities.
The ceremony featured multiple speakers including the governor, Connecticut’s Congressional delegation, Sikorsky officials and ranking military personnel, including Brigadier General Bob Marion and Colonel William D. Jackson.

The celebration comes only weeks following a deal reached by Sikorsky and the State of Connecticut where the helicopter manufacturer will produce CH-53K Stallion helicopters in-state through at least 2032. As part of the deal, Sikorsky must increase its investment in the state by creating more jobs and increasing its dependence on local suppliers.
