DOT: Wrong Way Detection System Test Activations to Take Place in Guilford, Milford, Westport, New Haven, North Haven and Stratford

In a press release, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced that wrong way detection system test activations will take place in Guilford, Milford, Westport, New Haven, North Haven and Stratford starting Monday, September 8th through Wednesday, September 10th, 2025.
The Wrong Way Detection System uses video cameras to detect vehicles that are traveling in the wrong direction. If a vehicle is detected, wrong way signs outlined with multiple sets of red lights are activated and begin flashing to alert the driver they are traveling in the wrong direction. Additionally, the system alerts the CTDOT Highway Operations Center and local State Police Troop barracks in real-time, allowing staff to monitor the activities of the wrong way driver on the ramp.
The following locations are included:
- I-95 Southbound at Exit 59 in Guilford
- I-95 North and Southbound at Exit 34 in Milford
- I-95 Northbound at Exit 17 in Westport
- I-91 Southbound at Exit 8 in New Haven
- I-91 Northbound at Exit 12 in North Haven
- Route 40 Southbound at Exit 1 in North Haven
- Route 15 Northbound at Exit 36 in Stratford
