For many children in our communities, the Boys & Girls Club is a safe space. It provides them with an environment where they can be themselves and a place that can have a forever impact on their lives.
Last night, Representative Hoxha had the pleasure of attending Bristol's The Jr. Youth and Youth of the Year award ceremony, which recognized two outstanding young people for their efforts to improve themselves and our community.
Victor G. (Jr. Youth of the Year winner) and Josephine K. (Youth of the Year winner) shared personal stories from their life and the challenges they faced and how the Boys & Girls Club has helped them in immeasurable ways. The common theme among them was just how much of a role the club played breaking them out of their shells and in their overall transformation.
"For these young people to have faced some of the adversities they had experienced and come out better for it is truly incredible, and a testament to the role our Boys & Girls Clubs are playing in our community," Rep. Hoxha said. "It was an honor to have been invited to take part in their award. Based on what I heard, I know that all of the candidates will go on to do amazing things in the future."
