Joe Hoxha was born in post-communist Albania and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1996 when he was only 3 1/2 years old. Seeking a shot at the American dream, his family settled in Bristol, Connecticut where his parents first worked various minimum wage jobs until finding good paying work in the city’s manufacturing sector.
Growing up in a working-class household in Bristol’s West End neighborhood, Joe learned the value of hard work very early on. He attended the Bristol public school system where he played soccer and wrestled for Bristol Central. Upon graduation, Joe attended the University of Connecticut, graduating with a dual bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology.
He has always been an admirer and avid reader of American History, spending countless hours reading the biographies of former presidents and engaging in political debates with anyone that would entertain him. It was during this time when Joe became interested in politics, so he began by assisting Republican candidates across the country in their efforts to seek political office. This included working in states like Texas, Virginia, New Hampshire, Missouri and right here in his home state of Connecticut. Joe's proudest campaign work came when he was able to successfully lead the Plymouth Republicans to virtually a complete sweep in their 2017 municipal race.
After his cross-country trip, Joe bought his very first home in Bristol, planting his forever roots back where it all started. He is now an active member of the Republican party in both Bristol and Connecticut, serving as a member of the party's governing body known as State Central.
In 2019, he decided to make a career switch into the financial services industry, working full-time for a local community bank. While his civic engagement may have slightly slowed down due to his then work schedule, his desire to serve his community never went away. While Joe has held various titles over the years, none make him prouder than being elected as the State Representative of the 78th District in 2024, and being able to represent the city he grew up in.
