Road Construction in District

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced construction that will be taking place in our community and I wanted to make you aware so that you can adjust your travel plans accordingly.

 

 

Bridge Rehabilitation on Route 191 over Terry Brook in Enfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction activities for the rehabilitation of the Route 191 Bridge over Terry Brook in Enfield beginning on June 9, 2017.

The project consists of repairs to an existing culvert carrying Terry Brook under Route 191 including modifications to associated highway storm drainage systems. Work includes installation of concrete and rock weirs to promote fish passage, lining the stream channel and banks with riprap, the addition of new concrete retaining and headwalls, minor paving, and roadway safety improvements. Some of this work will occur in stages within an environmentally sensitive area.

DOT Project No. 0048-0197 was awarded to Northern Construction Service, LLC at a cost of $1,424,199.00 on April 25, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed on October 26, 2017.

Lane Closure Information

Route 191 and Water Street: traffic impacts may occur Monday through Friday between 9:00 am- 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm-6:00 am ; and Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 pm – 10:00 am.

Springborn Dam Construction Underway

In addition, the Springborn Dam removal is now underway.  This should not effect current traffic patterns, but additional noise may be heard in the area.
