Cheeseman & Haines Hails State Grants for East Lyme & Salem

HARTFORD- State Rep. Holly Cheeseman (R-37) and Irene Haines (R-34) today announced that the State has awarded two Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants one each to East Lyme and Salem for the continued improvement of local roadway infrastructure and repairs to the Town Hall.

East Lyme is slated to receive $500,000 in state funding for the renovation and construction Plants Dam. This will be matched by $137,900 in town funds.

With schools across Connecticut opening for the new school year, here is an important reminder that roads will get a little busier in the morning and afternoon as summer comes to an end.

When school is in session, drivers should use extra caution, especially near bus stops, schools, playgrounds, and athletic fields. With the amount of accidents on Connecticut roadways, we all need to do our part to ensure safe travel for our students.
