    Stone Academy Update

    Stone Academy Update
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

On Thursday, I joined Attorney General William Tong, some of my colleagues from the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, along with many students who were directly impacted by the closure of the three Stone Academy sites across Connecticut.

Attorney General Tong announced that his office is opening a thorough investigation on this closure that has left hundreds of students in limbo. It is disturbing to me that this institute not only took the money of many students who were trying to enter the nursing field in hopes of bettering their educations and communities in general, but now face a cruel uncertainty that has temporarily derailed their dreams and opportunities.

Also mentioned were concerning reports detailing that 20% of the teachers in this school were unqualified, and there were clinicals that were not up to state standards.

As Ranking Member of the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, I will be working closely with my colleagues to do whatever is possible to not only help these students, but taking steps to ensure that these events do not repeat themselves.

The 2025 legislative session has officially come to a close, and I’m proud of the work I’ve done to represent the people of East Haddam, East Hampton, and Salem at the State Capitol.
