State Representative Irene Haines (R-34) hosted  constituent office hours  on Thursday, February 21st at Higher Grounds on Main Street in East Haddam in the morning and at Papa Z’s Pizza on Middletown Road in Colchester in the evening.

“It was a pleasure hearing from so many constituents first hand on the issues that matter most to them,” said Rep. Haines. “The number one concern continues to be our state finances and proposed tax increases. While the budget process is just getting started, my focus will be on making our communities affordable and attractive for families, retirees and businesses.”

Residents from across the district shared their questions, comments and concerns about state government. Many shared their concerns about Governor Lamont’s proposed budget, tax increases, affordability, school regionalization and the potential legalization of marijuana.
