The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that plans are being developed to rehabilitate the pavement on Route 11 north and southbound in Colchester and Salem as well as Route 153 in Essex.

The purpose of the project is to preserve the pavement condition. The project involves rehabilitating the pavement on Route 153 between the mile point 3.02 (the Essex/Westbrook town line) and mile point 5.25 (Route 154) and on Route 11 between the mile point 10.38 (the beginning of the expressway portion) and mile point 17.80 (the terminus of Route 11 at Route 82).

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in early 2022, with construction anticipated to start in spring of 2022 (assuming acceptance of the project and availability of funding). The project will be undertaken with 100% state funds.
