    HARTFORD – January 8th, 2025 – Representative Irene Haines of the 34th General Assembly District was sworn in for her fourth term in the Connecticut General Assembly. Rep. Haines has been assigned to the Education, Finance, and Planning and Development committees. With her assignment on the Education Committee, Rep. Haines intends to tackle challenges associated with teacher shortages. In the Finance Committee, Rep. Haines seeks to investigate fiscal guardrails aimed at reducing taxes and facilitating debt relief. Rep. Haines will explore solutions for vacant commercial buildings in the Planning and Development Committee. Representative Haines was accompanied by her daughter, Catherine with guest Enja Barry, an East Hampton constituent and Public Policy major attending Seton Hall University during the swearing-in ceremony.

    “I am proud to continue serving the 34th district.” Rep. Haines said on Opening Day.
