HARTFORD – State Representatives Irene Haines (R-34) participated in a “Stuff-a-Humvee” drive to support Veterans in need at the Capitol on Wednesday, May 22nd. The collection solicited needed items such as socks, t-shirts and personal hygiene items.
Rep. Haines commented, “Our Veterans deserve so much respect and gratitude for the sacrifice they made to defend our freedom, and we should jump at the opportunity to support them with whatever they need!”
In the days leading up to the drive Rep. Haines collected items for donation from residents in East Haddam, East Hampton and Colchester. The drive benefited Veteran’s programs at South Park Inn Emergency Homeless Shelter in Hartford and Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport.
